 Devorah Lynn
Rabbi

Devorah (nee Diana) Lynn was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised at Tifereth Israel.  She graduated from the University of Maryland in Anthropology and Zoology, married her Blair High School sweetheart, Fred Lipschultz, and moved to Boston for graduate school at The Art Institute of Boston in Fine Arts. They soon had two children, Eli and Erica.

In 1989, Fred received an appointment at the Bermuda Biological Station for Research and they moved to the Island, 700 miles east of North Carolina, where Devorah held the position of Elderhostel Coordinator of the Biostation and Rabbinic-Aide of the Jewish Community of Bermuda for a decade.

In 2001, Devorah entered Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and she was ordained in 2006. Her thesis topic, “Integrating Jacob: An Analysis of Art and Midrash on Jacob’s Wrestling with the Angel” successfully combines the Rabbi’s diverse background.

Rabbi Devorah is most energized by strengthening small communities, providing many gates through which to enter Judaism and joyfully integrating the cerebral, physical, and practical aspects of our Jewish tradition.
